The PC cabins have a layout similar to an area of AH Stephens in Georgia. They are generally a minimum of 30-50 feet apart, with 8 cabins and a lodge. Each is a rustic cabin, built from boards, with screen doors and wooden slat doors and wooden slat retractable windows. Each cabin can sleep between 8 and 10 players in provided bunk style beds. There is not generally any closet or storage space. Each has interior lighting and power, but of course no heat or air conditioning. There is a lodge built in similar style to the cabins. The lodge has a fireplace with a small shelf. The doors, windows, and lighting are the same as the cabins. The lodge will sleep between 16 and 18 people. Currently, we plan to use the lodge for in play areas that are not for lodging. Without the lodge, the capacity of the site for PCs is between 68 and 80 players, so there should be lots of room without crowding.
There is a bathhouse in this area, split by gender but in the same building. Each side has three shower stalls and three toiletry stalls. There is a common outdoor sink with water but no mirror.
The overall layout contains lots of flat ground in the PC town, and plenty of trails and woods in the surrounding areas. There are several fields nearby that can be used in play, including one that has a large pavilion in it.
Parking for the campsite is nearby but not in the camp. It is most likely that after unpacking we will run some shuttles out to let people drop off their cars at the parking lots.
The trickiest part of the camp is the tavern/kitchen. This is because Camp Piomingo encompasses 5 different campsites with some buildings in common. One of these common buildings is the tavern. In the event that other groups are inhabiting other campsites during our event (which is possible) then we will not have exclusive access to the tavern building. We have several alternate plans if that is the case. Either way, there will be food service available.
Take Interstate 75 North out of Atlanta
Go until you reach Chattanooga at Tennessee then take Interstate 24 West
Go until you reach Nashville then take Interstate 65 North
Cross over into Kentucky, and look for Exit 91 (Elizabethtown)
On the exit, bear left at the fork going toward Ft. Knox (31W North bypass)
Go about ½ mile then take Exit 136 Ft. Know 31W North bypass
After about 4 miles you reach 31W North, the exit says Ft. Knox/Louisville (left lane where road ends in a T-intersection)
There are a lot of food stops, and a Wal-Mart here for about the next 2 miles, and is your last chance at food variety.
Go about 16 miles and turn left onto road 1638 (near Meade County Bank and BP gas station)
Go about 3 miles then turn right onto Otter Creek Park Rd. (small sign that says Otter Creek Park)
Go about 2 miles, pass the park station, and then turn right into Camp Piomingo.
When checking in, park near pavilion by the big field. Parking is available on a gravel road nearby (parks about 40), and at the Astronomical Observatory (we will run a shuttle, and it parks about 100)
